Disaster risk reduction and the protection of vulnerable communities in the face of extreme weather events

Climate change has brought with it a series of consequences for the environment, from the destruction of ecosystems to serious climate catastrophes, such as hurricanes and torrential rains.
Countries that are naturally vulnerable to these changes, such as islands and isolated lands in the Pacific Ocean, are on the verge of being devastated by constant natural events, as they are susceptible not only to rising sea levels, but also to greater problems when managing environmental crisis.

Given the context, there is an urgent need for an immediate intervention of the Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP) to resolve the case, where the body should mediate and collectively seek measures to mitigate the effects of global warming and measures to protect and remedy natural disasters in the region.
